RD-6® is engineered with a geotextile-backed non-shielding design that allows cathodic protection currents to reach the pipe surface, even in disbonded areas, supporting long-term corrosion mitigation and pipeline integrity.
Cold-applied coating system designed for rapid installation and immediate backfill, reducing downtime during pipeline rehabilitation and new construction projects.
Delivers adhesion strength up to 35 N/10mm on primed steel surfaces while resisting coating disbondment caused by soil stress, moisture ingress, and field installation conditions.
Provides excellent resistance to soil stress, mechanical impact, and environmental exposure with a 50 mil (1.27 mm) factory-controlled coating thickness and impact resistance up to 23 in./lb.
Manufactured to comply with major international pipeline coating standards including NACE SP0109-2023, ANSI/AWWA C233-24, CSA Z245.30:22, and ISO 21809-3 for buried and submerged pipeline systems.
Successfully utilized across thousands of pipeline installations worldwide for girth weld protection, rehabilitation, and buried or submerged pipeline corrosion control applications.

Polyguard RD-6 is a non-shielding, anti-corrosion coating system engineered to safeguard buried and submerged pipelines from corrosion. Its polymer-modified coating layer, bonded to a tightly woven polypropylene geotextile fabric, provides excellent durability, high tensile strength, and low elongation — ensuring long-term protection without compromising cathodic protection efficiency.
The RD-6 Coating System combines three layers of defense:
Liquid Adhesive Primer for superior surface bonding.
Geotextile-Backed RD-6 Coating for corrosion resistance and flexibility.
SP-6 Outerwrap & UV Overcoat for added protection and UV stability above ground.
This system is ideal for buried and submerged pipelines, girth welds, and rehabilitation projects, with compatibility for operations up to 145°F (63°C). For higher temperatures, RD-6 HT is recommended.
Non-shielding design — prevents corrosion under disbonded coating.
Ease of installation — supplied in rolls and applied with a Polyguard-approved machine.
Proven field performance — widely trusted for long-term corrosion control.
Choose PetroMarys for certified Polyguard RD-6 solutions, ensuring reliable protection, extended service life, and cost-efficient performance for your critical pipeline assets.
PetroMarys supplies Polyguard RD-6 HT®, a non-shielding, anti-corrosion coating for buried, submerged, and new pipeline applications.
Reinforced with polypropylene geotextile fabric, it offers high strength, low elongation, and long-term corrosion protection.
For above-ground use, apply RD-6 UVO for added UV resistance.
Features & Benefits:
Non-shielding design — allows cathodic protection currents to reach the pipe surface.
High-temperature service — suitable for pipelines up to 190°F (88°C).
Superior cathodic disbondment resistance, even with minimal surface prep.
Strong geotextile backing — resists soil stress and maintains coating integrity.
Fast and easy to apply — backfill immediately after coating.
Visco-elastic flexibility — accommodates thermal expansion and contraction.
